Day 40 Notes

Alexandra to Queenstown.  Well from Arrowtown to Queenstown I took the long route a tad over 1000km to get there. I was in Arrowtown 11 days ago.   Todays ride was great the weather was kind. Leaving  Alexandra I decided to do the Roxburgh trail up the Clutha river to Clyde rather than the official Otago Rail Trail route, I was not disappointed with the decision the Roxburgh is very scenic and more technical. Once I got the Clyde I crossed the river onto SH8 until Cromwell. From Cromwell went through the Kawarau gorge heading towards Queenstown. I was on this road until I linked up with the Queenstown trails.   I hoped on from the Gibbston track over the Kawarau bridge ( where they do Bungee ) then followed the badly named ‘Frankton Flats’ as you may go though  Frankton Flats but it is anything but to get there. The Queenstown trails are simply stunning.  It was into the Queenstown lake view camp site, where they cram you in like sardines.
