Day 23 Notes

Welcome to the wet coast. Today was a relatively short day and it is just as well as it was raining to start with. I left Blackball I little later than planned as I was waiting to for a break in the rain, but no. The ride from Blackball to Greymouth was just about all in the rain. Not much fun. Stopped in Greymouth for a coffee and a quick visit to the Monteiths brewing company unfortunately I did not participate in the tasting as I still had some cycling to do, However I did get a few glasses so I can enjoy a brew at home. After the visit to Monteiths the rain stopped and I was able to get going to start the West Coast Wilderness Trail. This trail is really well marked and is very easy riding well so far as today I did the trail to Kumara. Tomorrow I do the rest of the trail, but might have to call in to Hokitika for accommodation as we need to top the camper. Tonight we Freedom camping next to the Taramakau River by the Kapitea power generation plant.
